Unwilling to Listen

Isaiah 30:9-13
These are rebellious people, deceitful children, children unwilling to listen to the LORD’s instruction.  They say to the seers, "See no more visions!" and to the prophets, "Give us no more visions of what is right! Tell us pleasant things, prophesy illusions. Leave this way, get off this path, and stop confronting us with the Holy One of Israel!"

Therefore, this is what the Holy One of Israel says: "Because you have rejected this message, relied on oppression and depended on deceit, this sin will become for you like a high wall, cracked and bulging, that collapses suddenly, in an instant.

Those who rebell against the Lord won't even listen to the truth, but delight in lies. Ministers must take heed not to introduce error just to make people listen.

2Tim 4:2-4 "Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage— with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.  They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths."
God often doesn't say the things that people want to hear, even within the Christian community. And therefore the instruction, "Do not despise prophecies. Test all things; hold fast what is good." 1Thess 5:20,21 In the Christian community today those gifted in prophecy speak what God has said in the Bible revealing the application for today. These of course must be tested, not to be presumed infallible. But nonetheless many will not hear because it doesn't suit their desires. It doesn't satisfy their craving for pleasure. They would rather delight in lies and illusions.

When one does not take heed that the wall is cracked and breaking, when they refuse to see and hear of such things either because of their pride or laziness to keep up with maintenance, destruction will come on them suddenly and to their surprise.

"We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood."1John 4:6
